Clock changes and time differences
Mumbai does not change its clocks; the time is the same all year.
Good to know
- The opening price comes from a call auction, 9:00 to 9:15, with order entry stopping at a random moment in its final minute.
- Since August 2026, large stocks set their close in a closing auction: their continuous trading ends 3:15 p.m. and the auction prints by 3:35 p.m.
- Once a year the NSE holds Muhurat trading, a symbolic one-hour evening session on Diwali, even when it falls on a weekend.
- India Standard Time runs at UTC+5:30, a half-hour offset, and never changes clocks.
