Toronto moves its clocks twice a year; the next change is on November 1, 2026.
Good to know
- The TSX keeps NYSE clock times, 9:30 to 4:00, but its own Canadian holidays: it trades on July 4 and US Thanksgiving, and closes on Canada Day and Canadian Thanksgiving.
- The closing auction freeze begins at a random moment between 3:56 and 3:57 p.m.
- After the close, an extended session runs 4:15 to 5:00 p.m. where trades print only at the official closing price.

Frequently asked questions
What are Toronto Stock Exchange trading hours?
The TSX trades 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, the same clock times as the NYSE. An extended session at the closing price runs 4:15 to 5:00 p.m.
Are TSX and NYSE open on the same days?
Mostly, but not always. Both close for New Year, Good Friday and Christmas, but the TSX trades on US-only holidays like July 4 and US Thanksgiving, and closes for Canadian ones like Victoria Day and Canada Day.
Does the TSX have pre-market trading?
Not executed trading. From 7:00 a.m. the book accepts orders and shows an indicative opening price, but no trades print until the 9:30 opening.
When does the TSX close early?
Only on Christmas Eve, when it falls on a weekday: trading ends at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. There is no early close after US Thanksgiving, because that is a normal trading day in Canada.
