Nasdaq's regular session runs 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Nasdaq also runs its own pre-market from 4:00 a.m. and post-market until 8:00 p.m.
Are Nasdaq and NYSE hours the same?
Yes. Both share the 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. regular session, the same ten holidays and the same 1:00 p.m. early closes. They differ in who operates the extended sessions and how the auctions work.
What is the Nasdaq Closing Cross?
It is the closing auction at 4:00 p.m. Eastern that sets the official closing price for every Nasdaq-listed stock. Index funds and benchmarks use these prices, which makes it the busiest moment of the day.
Will Nasdaq trade 24 hours?
Nasdaq has SEC approval to extend to 23 hours on weekdays by adding a night session, 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Eastern. The current target is late 2026; until launch, the hours on this page apply.
