Good to know
- Xetra trades on most German public holidays, including Ascension Day, Whit Monday and Corpus Christi. It observes only a short list of market holidays.
- Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are FULL closures, unlike London's half days.
- A short intraday auction pauses continuous trading around 1:00 p.m. for the most liquid stocks.

Frequently asked questions
What are Xetra trading hours?
Xetra trades 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central European Time, Monday to Friday, with an opening auction from 8:50 and a closing auction until about 5:35 p.m.
Is Xetra open on German public holidays?
Usually yes. The exchange trades on Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi and German Unity Day. It closes only for New Year, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, and the Christmas and New Year eves and days.
What is the difference between Xetra and Boerse Frankfurt?
Xetra is the electronic order book where most German volume trades, 9:00 to 5:30. Boerse Frankfurt is the venue's floor-style retail market with longer hours, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
When does Xetra overlap with US trading?
The US regular session opens at 3:30 p.m. Central European Time, so the two markets trade together for the last two hours of the Xetra day. During the spring and autumn clock-change weeks the overlap shifts by an hour.
